A basic question about door hinges.
SOLVED!We have fire doors (No chains or closer), and our doors started to creak. I decided to use WD40 on the hinges, and the creakiness has gone, but now they leak oil. Everytime I move the doors, more oil drips around the hinges, and I've done my best to clean it up, but it doesn't seem to want to stop.I'm no DIY person, I have absolutely no knowledge of even the most basic maintanence tasks. What do I do to stop the oil from leaking? How do I keep it clean on the outer parts of the hinges? Do I just leave it for an extensive amount of time with the door open so it dries? or closed? Or is there another thing I should be doing?I have done google searches and found no-one has asked the question, nor found any helpful answers (They all referred to door closers when it came to leaking oil). Any help would be appreciated, this is a very basic DIY question in regards to general home maintanence (not improvement).edit: Thankyou so much for your replies. I've got my answer and a better understanding. I feel like such a noob. Thankyou again and I'll do the suggested solution. ^-^On a sidenote, I don't know how to close the topic. I've done the suggested thing in editing to say I don't need anymore responses. ^-^ via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/3rSiTXJ
