Help! Broken Wood Dowels

Hey y’all, I’m a full time college student who recently started taking up upcycling/refurbing furniture as a side hobby. I recently bought two stacking display cases made of wood and glass and have deconstructed them down to manageable pieces. However, these broken wooden dowels have me stumped. A set of four was broken when I was trying to split one of the display cases because it was actually glued together and this wouldn’t come apart like it should have. The broken bits were too small to grip with pliers and pull on top of having glue. Google keeps directing me to the screw method but I can’t seem to get it to work?Any tips??? I’m almost tempted to simply drill right through the damn dowel but the frame bit I’m working on is pretty thin via /r/DIY
