holes in canvas awning cover

can I use Gorilla Tape to patch holes and tears in a retractable canvas awning cover? If not, should I use some sort of iron on patch or Tear-Aid or other similar product? Cover is canvas NOT vinyl. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2MHZSav
